Governance
IDN is governed by a neutral non-profit, legally separate from any operating company, so that no single party controls the issuer network or the standards it depends on.
Structure
An independent foundation domiciled in London, legally separate from any operating company, with N-of-M multi-signature governance over the issuer registry and the root of trust.
Board composition
Seats are allocated across the parties with a stake in neutrality: issuer representatives, verifier representatives, academic representatives, and end-user representatives.
Issuer admission criteria
Issuers are admitted against published criteria covering regulatory standing, key custody, and operational controls. The criteria document governs who may sign IDN attestations.
Fee structure
Verifier per-query fees are split across the Foundation, the operating company, and the issuer. The exact split is published in the charter and reviewed by the board.
Dispute resolution
Naming and accountability disputes follow a UDRP-analogous procedure, with an independent panel and a published process.
Current status
Charter v1.0 is published and the structure is designed; legal registration is in progress. We do not over-claim: until registration completes, this page describes the intended structure, not a completed entity.
